About Us

Barnes Solar was founded in 2009 when owner Ricky Barnes was still in his 20s. Armed with an engineering degree from UC-Irvine and a passion for solar energy, Ricky went from selling solar panels for another company to striking out on his own as a full-stack contractor for residential solar panel installations and commercial solar panel installations too. Fast forward 10 years, Ricky is now an industry veteran and the company he bootstrapped has more than 40 employees and has thousands of residential solar panel installations and commercial solar panel installations throughout Southern California. From community churches and local residences to Hollywood apartment buildings and private airports, Barnes Solar has solar panel installations all across the region producing energy for homeowners and busines owners alike and saving them money too.
